Manchester United are very close to signing Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek for €39m, plus another €5m in add-ons.

The Netherlands international who is set to feature for his country in Nations League games against Poland (September 4) and Italy (September 7) will sign a 5-year deal which will keep him at Old Trafford until 2025.

According to Sky Sports, the player has already completed a medical in the Netherlands ahead of the move to Old Trafford.

RMC reporter, Mohamed Bouhafsi added that he has said goodbye to his teammates.


Ajax manager, Erik Ten Hag confirmed the news after dropping the player for Ajax’s friendly match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

“There have been some developments that made us decide us to keep him out of today’s squad,” the Ajax boss told Ziggo Sport.

“We’ll make an announcement as soon as there’s some clarity.”

The 23-year-old would be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
