Brazilian star Thiago Silva played his last match for PSG last night in their 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.
The 35-year-old is reportedly close to sealing a deal to English Premier League side, Chelsea with final details left to be sorted out.
PSG’s loss is Chelsea’s gain. The blues are looking to improve their leaky defence which conceded 54 goals in the Premier League last season.
That’s not to say that PSG don’t know the value of their departing captain as club manager Thomas Tuchel explained.
“From the first day, it was a pleasure to work with him, and that will not change,” he said as quoted by Kenya News in June 2020.
“He is super professional, he is still our captain and will be until the end. These are super difficult decisions, with various opinions.
“Thiago is not an ordinary player, we have a great relationship.
“He is super reliable every day and together and we can still win three titles in five games with him”
However, while Thiago Silva has confirmed his departure, he has denied rumours he has agreed a deal with another club.
He told Sky Sport Italia, last night: “I’ve not accepted any bid. Reports of agreement reached with Fiorentina are not true.
“My agent is talking with Fiorentina as with other clubs. I’ll decide on next days with my family.”
