Manchester United have joined Liverpool in the race for Bayern Munich’s midfielder, Thiago Alcantara.

Bayern unsuccessfully tried to keep the Spain international (who has one year remaining on his current contract) by offering him a contract extension but it seems they have failed, according to former Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeneß.

“We offered him a great contract but at the last minute he changed his mind,” he said.

“He probably has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United, or with both.”

Italian football expert, Fabrizio Romano explains further in a tweet.

“Manchester United have spoken to Thiago Alcantara’s agents,” he tweeted.

“Jurgen Klopp is pushing for his signature at Liverpool; no official bid yet, aiming for a lower fee than the €30m asking price.”

It looks obvious Thiago will leave Bayern Munich this summer for the Premier League but his club destination is yet unknown even though Liverpool are installed as the favourite.
