Lionel Messi’s father and agent Jorge has rejected claims by La Liga governing body that his son Lionel Messi has a contract with Barcelona that includes a 700m Euros release clause.
Jorge Messi released a statement on Friday rejecting the content of La Liga’s release about Lionel Messi’s contract details.
“It’s obvious that the compensation of €700m does not apply at all,” he said.
“This compensation will not apply when the resolution of the contract, by the unilateral decision of the player, takes effect from the end of the 2019-20 sporting season.”
However, La Liga swiftly responded to Mr Messi’s release, standing by their earlier judgment.
