According to The Mirror, Barcelona will pay Liverpool about €5M(£4.5) as a result of Philippe Coutinho winning the Champions League with Bayern Munich.
The Catalan giants signed Coutinho for a whooping £142M fee in the 2018 summer transfer window from Liverpool but failed to impress after a frustrating 2018/19 season with the club. He was sent out on a season-long loan to Bayern Munich in the 2019 summer transfer window.
The Brazilian playmaker came off the bench during the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Barcelona in the second half for Bayern Munich to haunt his parent club as he netted twice and gave one assist.
Asides that humiliating his parent club, it has even gotten worse for the Catalan Giants as Coutinho has gone all the way to win the Champions League with Bayern Munich.
The deal that took Coutinho from Liverpool to Barcelona wasn’t just a big-money deal, it also contained a couple of add-on clauses, but unfortunately for Barcelona, some of these clauses weren’t club-specific but were player-specific.
One of those clauses was that Barcelona will pay Liverpool about £4.5M if Philippe Coutinho wins the Champions League within 2 seasons of signing for Barcelona.
Philippe Coutinho will return to Barcelona this summer and has recently been linked with Arsenal. Barcelona has a new manager now, so let’s see what the future would hold for Coutinho at Barcelona
