According to Sun, Chelsea will consider offering Michy Batshuayi a new deal to avoid him leaving for free in 2021.
The Belgium striker who was ranked third in the strikers’ pecking order last season seems to have fallen to 4th place with the arrival of Timo Werner.
The 26-year-old who struggled for game time in the 2019/20 season has been placed on the transfer list.
But due to lack of a buying club for the striker, Michy Batshuayi will be sent on loan most likely to a Premier League side.
Crystal Palace, Westham and Newcastle are all interested in signing the Belgium striker. Michy Batshuayi’s contract with Chelsea is due in the summer of 2021.
The striker joined Chelsea in July 2016 from Marseille for a fee of around £33M and has since struggled for regular first-team football at Chelsea, coupled with a series of loans to other clubs.
Chelsea are expected to offer Michy a new contract which may include a significant pay rise.
Sun reports that Chelsea will offer Batshuayi a £100k/week wage to sign a new contract.
That is a significant £15k/week increase from £85k/week wage Michy earns.
