According to French media outlet, Le 10 Sports, Chelsea are lining up a bid for Lille’s bargain goalkeeper, Mike Maignan as a replacement for the most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The same article also stated that Kepa has fallen out of place with Frank Lampard and is facing an uncertain future at Chelsea, which is no surprise to anyone considering the nature of the 2019/20 season Kepa has had at Chelsea.

Chelsea FC made Kepa the most expensive goalkeeper in the world when the Blues signed the Spanish international in a £73m deal from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 under Maurizio Sarri.

However, the Spain international has struggled to find consistency at Chelsea last season following series of awful performances in Chelsea’s goal.

The report added that Lille are braced for Mike Maignan potential exit given that the Ligue 1 side are lining up a bid for Saint-Etienne shot-stopper, Stephane Ruffer as a replacement for Mike Maignan if he leaves the club this summer.

They also claimed that Chelsea are convinced that Maignan has sufficient experience to thrive in the Premier League after having made 100+ appearances for Lille.

Maignan has established himself as Lille’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper over the past five seasons to build a glowing reputation in the French top flight.

The shot-stopper made 28 appearances in the league last season, conceding only 27 goals and keeping 12 clean sheets to help Lille finish in fourth place in Ligue 1.
